Bend

Take in the fresh morning air as we descend into the high desert canyon just outside of Bend. The 2-mile out-and-back trail to Steelhead Falls winds through juniper scrub and basalt rock, gradually dropping toward the rushing Deschutes River below. Sturdy shoes are a must. The path is short but steep in parts, with loose gravel underfoot and little shade overhead. At the bottom, we’ll reach the falls where a rocky basin with cold water offers a swimmable pool. We’ll take a long break at the falls and have the chance to test out the water. Afterwards, we’ll make the steady climb back up and end the day with a refreshing Olipop and Neve smoothie pouch.

Bring water, a towel, and a swimsuit if you’re planning to get in.
