Follow a rushing creek through pine forest to alpine lakes tucked beneath craggy peaks.

We’ll meet early at the East Portal Trailhead to beat the heat and the crowds. After quick intros, we’ll head up the South Boulder Creek Trail toward the Lower Crater Lakes, passing through shaded forest, open meadows, and rocky sections with stream crossings. At the lakes, we’ll take a break to enjoy the alpine air before making our way back down. This is a moderate effort with a high reward, perfect for those looking to stretch their legs and take in Colorado’s high-country beauty.
