Lone Star Hiking Club is a welcoming hiking group based in Austin and connecting the community! First time or experienced at hiking, everyone is welcome to come anytime for our adventurous experiences! This is a good time after a week-long workweek to wind down and enjoy an expedition in nature to start the weekend! 

We meet at designated hiking locations throughout Austin on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings, then head to a post-hike hang-out location for food and drinks!

***THIS IS AN OUTSIDE OF AUSTIN AND TRAVIS COUNTY HIKE***

This hike in particular we will be traveling outside of Austin and Travis County overnight for a hiking trip to Garner State Park in Concan, TX. The drive is approximately 3 and a half hours, and we will plan to carpool. We will be leaving Austin the morning of Saturday, November 14th, and return the afternoon of Sunday, November 15th. After our hike, we will head to our campsite which is close by in the area where we will spend the night. Check-in is at 2pm although we can check in later if we want, and check-out is the next day at 12pm.

LSHC schedule 11/14:
- 7:00am - Meet in the back parking lot at Austin Bouldering Project, at Springdale Rd/Airport Blvd, to figure out carpooling
- 7:30am - drive to Garner State Park
- 11:00am - arrive at Garner State Park (also figure out parking situation)
- 11:50am - Introductions and Ice Breakers, meet in front of the Garner State Park visitor center
- 12:00pm - Hike!
- 2:00pm - Group photo (or whenever we reach the top of Mt. Baldy)
- 4:30pm - head over to our campsite
- 5:00pm - set up our campsite with tents, food, etc
- 6:00pm - cook dinner, sit by the campfire, relax, play card games, and enjoy the vibes for the rest of the evening until bedtime
LSHC schedule 11/15:
- 8:00am - wake up 
- 9:00am - breakfast
- 10:00am - pack up, clean up the campsite with no trace
- 11:00am - head back to Austin
- 2:30pm - arrive back at Austin Bouldering Project for those who have carpooled

This event will require a day pass reservation entrance fee, which is $8 on the Texas State Parks website unless you already have a purchased Texas State Parks annual pass, link listed below. You will need to select a day pass specifically for Saturday, November 14th, for the 8am-9pm entry slot. Weather will be monitored throughout the week in the event if we needed to make any changes. Please make sure to pack comfortable footwear such as hiking shoes, overnight personal care products, a tent and sleeping bag for sleeping overnight at our campsite, any other camping gear you might find appropriate, as well as comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather for two days. It is recommended to have available bug spray and/or sunscreen depending on the weather, we will also have a first aid kit available if ever needed! At the campsite, we will cook dinner and bring our own food which we will discuss before the trip. We will also bring some card games which we can play when at the campsite, as well as a few other chilling activities. Also, both at the state park and campsite, please be prepared for little to no phone service as the phone service in that particular area is not very great.
