In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Global Running Day Event, I, the undersigned participant, acknowledge and agree to the following:

### 1. **Assumption of Risk**
I understand that participation in a 5K run involves physical exertion and inherent risks, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, traffic, terrain hazards, adverse weather, and the potential for injury or illness. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation, whether known or unknown.

### 2. **Release and Waiver of Liability**
I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless the event organizers, affiliated running clubs, sponsors, volunteers, officials, the City of Houston, event staff, and any other individuals or entities associated with this event (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, or illness (including death) that may be sustained while participating in the Event.

### 3. **Medical Consent**
I consent to receive medical treatment that may be deemed necessary during the Event. I understand that I am solely responsible for any medical costs that arise as a result of my participation.

### 4. **Fitness to Participate**
I certify that I am physically fit and sufficiently prepared to participate in the Event. I have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional.

### 5. **COVID-19 and Communicable Diseases**
I understand the risks associated with communicable diseases such as COVID-19. I agree not to attend the Event if I am experiencing symptoms of illness, have tested positive for a contagious condition, or have recently been exposed to someone known to have such a condition.

### 6. **Photo/Media Release**
I grant permission for the use of my image, likeness, or voice in photos, videos, or other media taken during the Event for promotional or informational purposes, without compensation.

### 7. **Minors**
If I am signing on behalf of a participant under the age of 18, I certify that I am their parent or legal guardian and have the authority to enter into this agreement on their behalf.
