If anyone knows this course, it’s Daniel Matheny — a 3x Crippler podium finisher and the current **Shelf Road DH KOM holder**. He’s proven you can “run what you brung,” racing The Crippler on both MTB and gravel — even beating his own KOM in the process.

Beyond results, Daniel brings **20+ years of coaching experience**, including work with USA Cycling at the Olympic Training Center, leading international teams like **Team Rwanda / Team Africa Rising**, and coaching athletes of all ages and levels to national and international success. He’s also a certified MTB skills coach, strength & conditioning coach, and wellness coach — blending performance with long-term health.
