About this event
This is an interpretive guided hike led by a Texas Master Naturalist and person in recovery. We’ll explore the loblolly pine forests of Bastrop, climb sandy dunes, and look out at an ecosystem in recovery from the 2011 wildfires. The hike will have regular stops to talk and learn more about the environment we’re seeing.
We recommend securing a day pass to the state park ahead of time. The park costs $5. Please reach out if you would like financial assistance.
We will meet at the parking area near the Farkleberry Spur trail. That is left on the main road after exiting the park headquarters.
The hike is about 3 miles, so wear good hiking shoes and sunscreen. Bring water. Much of this trail is sandy. The event will take about 2.5 hours and will be partially shaded. There are some elevation climbs and switch backs on these trails, so it will be moderately difficult.
