Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk & Participant Agreement
Applies to all Purlates classes, sessions, visits, and events — including Purrlates signature classes, Pilates classes (with or without props, weights, or kittens), Kitten Lounge visits, Sound Bath sessions, Kitten Movie Nights, pop-up classes, private or rented studio events, and any other current or future Purlates offering, whether or not cats or kittens are present.
For the purposes of this agreement, "Purlates" refers to Purlates S-Corp, its instructors, contractors, volunteers, officers, employees, venue partners, rescue partners, and affiliates.
The term "Participant" refers to the individual attending any Purlates class, session, visit, or event — or the parent/legal guardian signing on behalf of a minor.
Scope of Agreement 											For the purposes of this agreement, the terms "class," "session," "visit," and "event" are used interchangeably and refer to any and all Purlates activities, programs, or offerings the Participant attends or participates in, including but not limited to Purrlates signature classes, Pilates classes (with or without props, weights, or kittens), Kitten Lounge visits, Sound Bath sessions, Kitten Movie Nights, pop-up classes, private or rented studio events, and any other current or future Purlates offering, whether or not cats or kittens are present. All terms, waivers, releases, and policies in this agreement apply equally to every such offering.
Assumption of Risk 											You acknowledge that Pilates practice and other physical activity offered by Purlates carries inherent risks, including but not limited to muscle strains, sprains, and other injuries. You assume all risks associated with participation, including those arising from the negligence of Purlates instructors, other participants, or the rented studio space. The Participant assumes full responsibility for all risks associated with their participation in a Purlates session or event, including but not limited to cat scratches, bites, allergic reactions, or other animal-related injuries.
Slip & Fall Hazard 											The Participant acknowledges that kittens may urinate, vomit, shed, or move unpredictably, which may create slippery areas or other hazards. The Participant assumes full responsibility for watching where they walk and agrees that Purlates is not liable for any slips, trips, or falls.
Cancellation Policy 										I acknowledge that all bookings for Purlates classes, sessions, visits, and events are non-refundable and that full payment is required to reserve my spot. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time in order to be eligible for a reschedule, subject to availability. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled time, or failure to attend without notice, will result in forfeiture of the booking without refund or credit. In the event that Purlates must cancel or reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances (including but not limited to inclement weather, venue issues, or cat welfare concerns), participants will be offered the choice of rescheduling to a future session or receiving a full refund.
Participant Verification & Signature Requirement								 Each adult participant is required to complete and sign their own Purlates liability waiver prior to attending any class, session, visit, or event. Waivers may not be completed or signed on behalf of another adult under any circumstances. Any participant who arrives without having completed their own waiver will be required to sign before entering the studio. Participants who refuse or are unable to sign their own waiver will not be permitted to participate and will not be eligible for a refund, reschedule, or credit. Parents or legal guardians may sign on behalf of minors as outlined in the "Minors" section of this agreement. No other third-party signatures are valid.
Right to Refuse Service & Removal from Premises								 Purlates reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse service to, deny entry to, or remove any Participant from a class, session, visit, or event at any time if their behavior is deemed unsafe, disruptive, inappropriate, or inconsistent with the safety, comfort, or wellbeing of participants, instructors, volunteers, studio staff, rescue partners, or animals. This includes, but is not limited to, failure to follow instructions, intoxication, aggressive behavior, mistreatment of animals, or violation of Purlates policies. Removal under this provision will not entitle the Participant to a refund, reschedule, or credit.
Personal Responsibility 											I agree to take responsibility for my own well-being during the session. This includes listening to my body, modifying poses as needed, and resting whenever necessary.
Release of Liability											 I release Purlates, its instructors, its volunteers, and any studio partners from any liability for injuries or damages that may result from my participation in any Purlates class, session, visit, or event, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Inherent Risks												 The Participant understands and accepts that a Purlates session or event may involve the presence of cats, some of which may be rescues, and acknowledges that such animals may exhibit unpredictable behaviors despite reasonable safety measures being taken. Risks include, but are not limited to, scratches, bites, allergic reactions to hair, dander, saliva, or litter, and the transmission of zoonotic conditions such as ringworm, fleas, ticks, mites, or other parasites or illnesses. The Participant acknowledges that while Purlates and its rescue partners take reasonable precautions to minimize risks, it is impossible to eliminate all potential hazards associated with interaction with cats—particularly rescues or foster animals—and therefore assumes full responsibility for all risks of injury, illness, allergic reaction, or property damage arising from participation.
Medical Disclaimer											 I certify that I am in good health and physically able to participate in this activity. I assume responsibility for consulting a physician if necessary.
Allergies												 The Participant acknowledges that it is their responsibility to be aware of and manage their own allergies or sensitivities to cats or other elements present during the session. Purlates will not be responsible for allergic reactions or other health issues experienced by the Participant.
Animal Welfare & Guest Conduct										 Guests agree to treat all cats with kindness and respect. Any intentional harm or mistreatment will result in removal from the premises, and guests may be held liable and reported to the appropriate authorities.
Photo & Video Consent 											The Participant understands that other guests may take photos or videos during the session and agrees that Purlates has no control over content captured by third parties. The Participant consents to Purlates' own use of photos and videos for promotional purposes unless they notify Purlates in advance.
Minors 												Participants must be at least six (7) years old to attend a Purlates class, session, or event. A parent or legal guardian must be physically present at all times and is solely responsible for supervising the minor's conduct, safety, and interactions with cats. The guardian agrees to remain with the minor for the full duration of the session. Participants ages 13–17 may attend without a parent or guardian physically present; however, this waiver must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to attendance. By signing this waiver, I confirm that I am the parent/legal guardian of the minor named above. I understand and accept full responsibility for their safety, conduct, and participation, and for ensuring that they treat all cats and participants with respect. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Purlates, its instructors, volunteers, and venue partners from any claims arising from the minor's participation.
Late Policy												 I acknowledge and agree that I am required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time in order to check in, complete any necessary paperwork, and prepare. I understand that no late entry is permitted to any Purlates class, session, visit, or event. Once a session begins, doors are closed and late arrivals will not be admitted under any circumstances, in order to protect the flow of class, maintain safety, and minimize stress for the cats. I further acknowledge that missed sessions due to late arrival will be considered a no-show and are not eligible for refund, reschedule, or credit of any kind.
For sold-out or fully booked sessions, I understand that if I am not checked in and present at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time, Purlates reserves the right to release my spot to a participant on the waitlist. A spot forfeited in this manner will be treated as a no-show and is not eligible for refund, reschedule, or credit.
Severability												 If any provision of this agreement is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable for any reason, the remaining provisions shall remain valid, binding, and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.
