📖 about the book
Set in a 1950s Washington, D.C. gripped by McCarthy-era paranoia, The Briar Club by Kate Quinn is a compelling historical mystery centered on the fierce bond of an unlikely sisterhood. When a mysterious woman named Grace March moves into the attic of Briarwood House, her weekly Thursday night dinner parties slowly transform a group of isolated female tenants into a deeply loyal "found family." However, as the political suspicion of the Red Scare creeps into their sanctuary, the women must navigate their own dangerous secrets, hidden traumas, and conflicting loyalties. The novel beautifully weaves their individual struggles together, building from a slow-burn character study into a gripping whodunit after a shocking act of violence upends the boarding house.
