Learn in a small group setting for maximum instructor time.

Session 1 – Fundamentals & Control

Theme: Keep the ball in play with purpose

Skills • Grip (continental, relaxed hand) • Athletic ready position • Basic forehand & backhand mechanics • Controlled, high-percentage shots

Drills • Cooperative forehand/backhand rally • Cross-court dinking without movement • Target zones (deep vs short)

Coached Play Focus • Consistency > power • “5-ball rally challenge”

By the end of this session, players should: • Understand proper grip, ready position, and swing fundamentals • Rally consistently on both forehand and backhand • Hit with margin instead of force • Feel confident keeping the ball in play during open play

I understand that pickleball is a physical sport and that playing in outdoor open-play events organized by Young Professional Pickleball and Golf Socials involves risks, including falls, collisions, sprains, pulled muscles, dehydration, being hit by a ball or paddle, and, in rare cases, serious injury or death. I understand these events take place at rented courts in Houston, Texas (the “Facility”), and that conditions such as heat, sun, uneven or slick surfaces, and other outdoor factors can increase these risks. I choose to participate voluntarily and I am responsible for my own health, hydration, and decision to play.

In exchange for being allowed to participate, I agree to assume all risks of injury or damage arising from my participation and I release and discharge Young Professional Pickleball and Golf Socials, its organizer, the Facility, and their staff and assistants from any and all claims for injury, illness, property damage, or death related to my participation, including those caused in whole or in part by their ordinary negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by Texas law. I understand this release does not apply to claims based on gross negligence or willful misconduct.
