Looking for a fun, active way for your child to get moving, build confidence, and learn a new sport this spring? **The Lab: Learn to Play Pickleball With a Pro Coach Clinics** (March 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th) is a 4-week pickleball program designed specifically for kids **6th–9th grade**.

This clinic breaks pickleball down into simple, age-appropriate steps while keeping things energetic, social, and fun. Each week combines footwork, skill development, and guided gameplay so kids can learn the fundamentals *and* actually use them in real play.

No prior pickleball experience is required. Whether your child is brand new, athletic but unfamiliar with pickleball, or has played casually before, this program meets them where they are and helps them grow.

Expect high energy, clear instruction, lots of reps, and an encouraging environment where kids can learn, compete, and have fun with their peers.

* **Schedule:** Saturdays, 10:00–11:30 AM
* **Duration:** 4 weeks (March)
* **Session Length:** 1.5 hours
* **Courts:** Multiple courts with rotating stations

* **10:00–10:10** — Check-in & dynamic warm-up
* **10:10–10:30** — Footwork & movement drills
* **10:30–11:00** — Skill focus (rotating stations)
* **11:00–11:20** — Gameplay & situational drills
* **11:20–11:30** — Cool down & group wrap-up

### Week-by-Week Breakdown

**Week 1 — Fundamentals & Footwork**
*Focus: Foundations and confidence*
Kids learn athletic stance, basic movement, paddle grip, forehand and backhand basics, plus an introduction to pickleball rules and court positioning.
🎯 *Goal:* Comfort with movement, grip, and basic rallying.

**Week 2 — Consistency & Control**
*Focus: Keeping the ball in play*
Footwork with movement, controlled rallies, serve fundamentals, return positioning, and partner drills.
🎯 *Goal:* Longer rallies, better spacing, and improved control.

**Week 3 — Game Awareness & Strategy**
*Focus: Playing smarter*
Court awareness, where to hit and where to stand, introduction to dinking and soft shots, doubles positioning, and mini-games.
🎯 *Goal:* Kids begin thinking strategically, not just hitting.

**Week 4 — Match Play & Competition**
*Focus: Confidence and fun*
Game simulations, team-based match play, coach feedback, and group photos to wrap up the program.
🎯 *Goal:* Apply everything learned and finish strong.

WAIVER, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK & CONSENT

I, the undersigned parent or legal guardian of the above-named participant (“Participant”), on behalf of the Participant, myself, our heirs, assigns, and next of kin, hereby agree as follows:

EMERGENCY AUTHORIZATION

I hereby authorize each of the directors, volunteers, coaches, and/or other officials of Junior Flag-Football League, Inc. (“JFL”) and Court Culture to consent to medical, surgical, or dental examination and/or treatment for the Participant in the event of an emergency.

CONSENT

By registering the Participant, I give permission to Junior Flag-Football League, Inc. (“JFL”) and Court Culture to post photographs and video of the Participant and/or myself for promotional purposes, including but not limited to websites, social media, and marketing materials.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPERVISE & HOLD HARMLESS

I acknowledge that it is my responsibility alone to supervise the Participant during the entire event. I hereby hold harmless Junior Flag-Football League, Inc. (“JFL”), Court Culture, and their directors, coaches, facilitators, volunteers, Sheridan Park, Ping Tom Park, Chicago Park District, the City of Chicago, and all affiliated entities from any injury to myself or the Participant. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless JFL, Court Culture, and all affiliated parties for any claim that may be assessed or filed.

DISCLAIMER, ASSUMPTION OF RISK & WAIVER

I acknowledge that participation in Junior Flag-Football League, Inc. (“JFL”) and Court Culture programs necessarily involves risks of injury, including but not limited to: bruises, scrapes, strained, sprained, or torn muscles, tendons or ligaments, broken bones, dislocations, concussions, brain damage, nerve and spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and death. I willingly and voluntarily accept and assume all such risks on behalf of myself and the Participant and warrant that I have the authority to do so.

REFUND POLICY

Refunds are not eligible after July 15. Credit for future programs, leagues, and/or services will be valid for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I HAVE READ AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE EMERGENCY AUTHORIZATION, DISCLAIMER, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER, AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPERVISE AND HOLD HARMLESS. I UNDERSTAND THAT I AND THE PARTICIPANT HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING THIS FORM AND AGREE TO THESE TERMS FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY. I AGREE TO INFORM JFL AND COURT CULTURE IN A TIMELY MANNER IF ANY INFORMATION ON THIS FORM CHANGES.

ADDITIONAL PICKLEBALL WAIVER & RELEASE

In consideration of being allowed to participate in pickleball activities, events, and programs (“Activities”) hosted or organized by Junior Flag-Football League, Inc. (“JFL”) and Court Culture, I acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that:

Assumption of Risk

I understand that pickleball involves physical activity and carries inherent risks of injury, including but not limited to sprains, fractures, collisions, falls, or other accidents. I voluntarily assume all risks, known and unknown, associated with participation in these Activities.

Release & Waiver

I hereby release, waive, and discharge JFL, Court Culture, organizers, sponsors, volunteers, event staff, facility owners, and all affiliated parties from any and all claims, demands, or liability for injury, illness, damage, or loss that may result from participation in these Activities, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Medical Treatment

In the event of injury, I consent to receive medical treatment deemed necessary and understand that I am responsible for all costs related to such treatment.

Photography & Media Release

I grant permission for photos, videos, or other media of myself and/or the Participant taken during the Activities to be used for promotional purposes without compensation.

Compliance

I agree to follow all rules, instructions, and safety guidelines provided by event organizers and facility staff.

COVID-19 NOTICE

I understand that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By attending any JFL and Court Culture training session, practice, or event, I voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

FOR PARENTS / GUARDIANS OF MINORS (UNDER AGE 18)

I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the Participant and have legal responsibility for the Participant. I consent and agree to the release as provided above of all Releasees, including Junior Flag-Football League, Inc. (“JFL”) and Court Culture, and for myself, my heirs, assigns, and next of kin, I release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all liability arising from my minor child’s participation, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Acknowledgment of Understanding

I have read this Waiver & Release of Liability, fully understand its terms, and sign it freely and voluntarily.
