Inherent Risks of Water-Based and Shoreline Activities

I understand and agree that participating in water-related and shoreline activities- including but not limited to paddling on kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, or other vessels; working from docks, seawalls, or shorelines; and handling debris- carries inherent risks that cannot be eliminated, even with reasonable care.

These risks may include, but are not limited to:
Drowning, near-drowning, and immersion in water
Capsizing or falling from a vessel, dock, seawall, or shoreline
Slips, trips, and falls on wet or uneven surfaces
Tides, currents, wakes, changing water levels, and limited visibility
Contact with sharp debris, glass, metal, fishing gear, or other hazardous materials
Exposure to sun, heat, dehydration, cold, wind, lighting, rain, and severe weather
Contact with or injury from wildlife (e.g. fish, jellyfish, crabs, birds, insects) and potential allergic reactions
Strains, sprains, and other physical injuries from paddling, lifting, or carrying equipment
Illness or infection from contact with polluted or contaminated water or debris

I understand that Florida law recognizes "inherent risks" in recreational activities and limits the duty of certain landowners and activity sponsors who make outdoor recreation available without charge, including but not limited to section 3.160085 (recreation activities), section 375.251 (recreational use of land and water), and chapter 773 (inherent risk in equine activities), Florida Statutes.

By participating, I voluntarily and knowingly assume all such risks, whether or not specifically listed above.
